Paa | Chapter One | His Angel Was Born

He suddenly heard the cries of the newborn, and crossed fingers; for in his place, gender identification of unborns was not legal..so he was anxious about whether its a gal or a boy..

On contrary to the general trend then in his extended family and around, he wanted a baby girl this time. Infact the deal between him and his wife was - if the first born is a girl, they would only have one child; but if its a boy, they would definitely have a second and wish its a gal. It, whose cries he was hearing, was the second born. So his anxiety and excitement was at its peak. 

He rushed towards the birthgiving ward where his wife was admitted, and asked the nurse who had just come out from the ward, if it was a boy or a gal.

And he could not resist his tears of joy for the one wish he had been praying for in a very long time..was finally granted..

Not that he did not love the firstborn son, he loved him equally, he was his world and universe!! But we cannot deny the general love-bias of Fathers for daughters and Mothers for Sons!! And Case here was no different.

After a wait of few mins, which to him seemed like ages, visitors were finally allowed in the birthgiving ward.

He took a deep breath, felt nervous, almost sweating with excitement and flew on foot at once to see her.

What he felt next was almost surreal..he had experinced the fragrance of a new born, its tininess, its fragility, its innocent-aura before too..but this seemed something divine to him!! As if this baby gal he was holding in his arms was answer to all his prayers!! Solution to all his problems!! Door to happiness!! Ray of hope!! And everything else that defines and brings prosperity and happiness!!

He, till date, after 28 years, is not sure that what he felt that day when he first held her, was a dream or reality! For he never experinced somethig like that again ever, not even close. And neither was he able to describe tht feel to anyone. Maybe he did not want to. He wanted everything between them, everything for her, to be exclusive and special!!
