So this one ‘not-so-fine’ day, I was racing on the usual home-office track with several other IT folks like me and the shocking realization hit me like a puff of CO2 from tam-tam(an 8 seater Hybrid of Auto-tempo). To add more flavor for my Pune chya Mulgaas / Mulgies – my racing track is none other than Pimple(pronounced NOT as it spells; but as ‘Pimplay’) Saudagar – shivar chowk – jagtap dairy – wakad bridge – Hinjewadi Phase 1-2-3 – TCS. Boring and short as it might sound to the unfamiliar tribes; it is the most happening route ever. And now even more special to me, because of the realization of the decade!!
So as I was driving between the finest racers ever, cursing the government about pit-filled roads; not-well-planned city; unmanaged traffic etc etc, I realized, one reason is much more prominent cause of accidents/jams than all these – “Mood Swings”.. yes Mood Swings!! Unbelievable right?! You would not agree more in next 2 minutes, so brace yourself for this shocking reality!
As usual, I was driving on a speed of 30-40 in the traffic and all of a sudden a biker had a ‘swing of mood’ to drive zig-zag amongst these 40-50 vehicles. ‘Hunk’ as he was, on his newly owned Hunk, cut-maarna was his hobby, profession and forte. So without caring for the lame, not-so-hap drivers on the road, there he was Fazing through at the speed of 70!! ‘KEWL’ dude.
Realization sprouting up in me..but yet not a sapling!
Somehow I managed to distract myself from the hunk and focused on my driving. I was trying to find my way through the now one-side-jammed hinjewadi chowk. Entire left side of the road was jam-packed, and a bus was coming through with pride on this empty right side facing the left-side traffic, when a white maruti owner suffered from this deadly mood-swing! He swooped the steering and accelerator to stand face-to-face with this bus. No movement on either side. Did the maruti driver planned to run over the bus and move ahead or expect something similar from the bus driver?! Or did he expect the bus to disappear because of his gracious presence and give him the way? Did he not know that blocking the incoming vehicles will worsen the traffic?! I am sure he knew all of that, he has got a driving license that proves he is sane and an able driver – but all he could not handle was his mood swing! Poor chap!!
Realization saplED..but yet to bloom to fullest!
People get over mishaps and so did we all; The mood-swing of the maruti-wale-bhaiya was somehow resolved and vehicles got through. But wa-wa-wait! You remember that popular lady on road?! Yes the one with scarves, gloves, summer jacket, high heels, pink colored half helmet, flowing dupatta, millions of other accessories and the one with indicator blinking on left side while she struggles to goto right! Not that she doesn’t remember it is her duty to drive carefully and put the right indicator on – she has got license afterall; Not that she is forgetful – she has afterall remembered to put the matching nailpaint which are shining on her toes; not even that she doesn’t care that the blinking indicator could confuse the other drivers and cause accidents – she cares a lot about herself and could call a crowd if any guy would accidently bump into her vehicle and she falls! But unfortunately she is suffering from mood-swing – she cannot help it!
The realization has finally fruited-up.. Though we all are racing every morning / evening from home-office-home, we should get our Mood swings treated for heaven’s sake; cz they could be deadly if not taken care or treated!!
