This morning I was wishing a colleague who is celebrating his birthday today.. Since he happens to be quite younger to me, I advised him to drink responsibly and advise other's invited to bday party to do the same(I dnt know where did this elderly instincts of mine crop up at times) anyway, His response was - "I belong to 'so and so caste' and so I dont drink"
An alarm rang into my mind.
People still do that and believe that!! Strange.. Strange in a good way..
There is a thin line between Karma and Dharma these days.. And sadly definitions have been modified accordng to covenience.. Not sure how this works at individual level, but from the rooftop, it all appears to be mere thought-lines lying in books and nothing else.. I am not an extremist(as per my understanding of it) but from the small world I have seen, it all depends on what you want to do.. Whether you want to use your caste, religion, region, traditions, upbringing as weapons in favour of or against it!!
So more than your birth attributes - caste, place or people you were born to..what matters is living attributes - what you plan to choose, how you widh to live and what you want to give back to this world..
Its More about living-way than the birth-day!
Religion is an idea - Best if u use it positively.. Worst if you channelize it towards negativity and destruction!!
