Movie Review..#Tried Again
Encapsulating the very essence of life - "existence for THE purpose", the movie "Ship of Theseus", very beautifully, promotes the noble act of - "Organ Donation". As the movie title means - a paradox that raises the question of whether an object which has had all its components replaced remains fundamentally the same object - movie revolves around three characters who have undergone organ transplant and their life before and after it.
Curtain raiser story is about a beautiful girl who lost her eyesight to a corneal infection, but captures amazing pictures in her DSLR by listening to the sounds in the vicinity.There is a scene, where a she gets into a sweet arguement with her guy, was amusing because of the dialogue delivery and timing. Moreover, the screenplay itself depicted a lot many feelings and details that could not have been told better, even by dialogues. Story ends with her eyesight back but still many voids in her life.
Second story has a saint as protagonist, who works for animal rights against ill-treatment by pharma research industry. A scene in which a caterpillar crawls alive on a floor, where it had umpteen escapes from getting trampled, was shot very meaningfully. Also, the dialogues are very amusing - "an enlightened e-mail is one which has no ATTACHMENTS". The story paces up when Saint opts for "fast unto death" after he gets "liver cirrhosis" but ends up getting cured by liver transplant with the aid of same medicines he was opposing production of. The paradigm shift from his "fast unto death" to his "yes" on treatment is what keeps the audience spell bound.
Closing story is about a money-minded man who has had kidney transplant. He develops a soft corner for the have-nots and exploited of the society, after he gets to know about an organ smuggling case. He thrives for justice in the same case but ends up with bitter realities of life. His grandmother stands as beacon throughout, consoling and guiding him.
With all the three stories connecting logically in the climax, the audience is kept on edge till the end. The climax being open ended, is a food FOR thought.

Detective Byomkesh Bakshy – A stupendous personification of the original protagonist from the creative classic Byomkesh Bakshy “Satyanweshi” (Seeker of truth) by Shardindu Bandopadhyay. A crime thriller plotted on the land of Bengal of pre-independence eraAnother unique, yet a typical 'his type' canvas from 'the' Dibakar Banerjee, after Oye lucky lucky oye, Khosla ka ghosla, Love, sex aur Dhokha and Shanghaai!
Ever-lingering background score and music, as it has, multiplies the thrilling experience that the story and the screenplay both create! Music, if this creative, indeed has to be a cocktail – mix from various top-notchs including the Gangs of Wassepur Fame Sneha Khanwalkar.Various elements in the movie, magnify the beauty of the penned character / story – be it the well thought-chosen cast, location / setup, costumes. Sushant Singh proves his mettle as a well-homeworked actor in every shot. Supporting cast is no far-behind.
Some sequences are so very enticing – be it the first sequence which begins with a brutal killing by an anonymous character, thereby seeding-in the plot suspense..or the climax sequence which is a fight sequence wherein the killer in the story manages to escape, from getting murdered, giving way to the sequel of the the movie! And of course, the way this new Indian Hero has been pitched and filmed by Dibakar Banerjee and team, audience is definitely expecting a prequel potraying the early life of this Truth seeker!!
Though some of the viewers might find it predictable, but even to them, the way film has been weaved around the plot, will appeal appealingly!
Many thanks to Dibakar Banerjee, for making us live the mystery and thrill and of course to the first hand creator – Shardindu Bandopadhyay, for giving us our very own 'desi' Sherlock Holmes!

Year ends..thought begins..
Another financial year passed by.. hhh.. I know, not much of a difference to a lay man.. but it seems - anything that ends and anything that begins, gives a new thought-line, a whole bunch of new ideas to ponder over, a start to a new struggle..
It was a usual day at office which began with the same 'poha-farsaan-tea' breakfast with a friend..and while we were in the queue of buying breakfast tokens, he suddenly said – 'see the rates of breakfast items have hiked'..The reason food vendor gave was – 'New financial year, new rates'.. Then the discussion somehow turned towards finances, some friends and acquaintances from IIMs who have salary in 8 digits INR, rent, house loans.. and suddenly the new thought flashed by – Would I ever want to have a house of my own?! And voila, the thought-line followed.. A house of my own – Made of bricks and cement OR the one which is made of my loved ones and their love?!
In this so called rat race of this materialistic world, sometimes I am confused, what do I actually want?!Is it just the things I am running after – Onsite, Package, Settled spouse, A row house.. or the things my heart runs after – A tour of my own country – stone by stone, just enough money to keep up to my basics, a person who loves me and cares for me to the moon and far, a place where all my loved ones live!!
And now, as I think it over and over.. I realize.. the later gushes the positive adrenalin through me while the former just keeps me off the stress..
Its high time to decide – A adrenalled life?! A safe side set life?!! Signing off to give it a thought..

*Terms and Conditions Apply
Happens, at times..at those times when it seems that nothing in life is on track..relationships, career, health..nothing, nothing at all.. - that you start feeling - “Why everything comes with *Terms and conditions apply!? Why cant good things happen just like that? Why do I have to pay some good thing in lieu of some other good thing!?”
But have you ever given this thought, a 'good' thought?!
Take, for citation, Happiness - We often misinterpret happiness to be “associative” and not “exclusive”! What that means is - happiness is not associated with something or some event or some one. It lies right there!! Within you!
So next time you are stressed off / sad / unhappy, just take a deep breath and realize - “Life is not that bad after all! And this time is gonna go by. So why waste time bothering about something which is gonna go by in a flash!!”See..You can be happy..anytime, every time!! No terms, no condition!
Every good thing in this world comes with just one clause - “you have to just take it, feel it!!”

The Hakeem-Dhanvantri Syndrome
A very dear friend of mine got injured recently. Almost-Broken foot. Nothing descriptive - A beauty, this beast and oops - mis-step ;)
So, as we were planning to goto Doctor's this eve ( I almost scared him to see a doc lest I would do "something" to him ) - his very love for doctors and so called medical science got its way - "They do nothing. What can they do?! They will give n-many medicines and suggestions - all for no good".
I was listening carefully - you better listen to an angry insane friend who is injured or else, he will make you the same - angry, insane, injured :P
So, as I was barely listening to him - I recalled few similar conversations - where Doctors and Medical Science - specifically in India - were accused, abused and abhorred. Why?! I mean we all have our own experiences and reasons to do so. But I think it this way.
In a country where self-medication is the most prevalent one;
where hygiene is the last thing which is taken care of in day-to-day life; where parallel remedy is preached and practiced (Alopathy, Ayurvedic, Homeopathy and what not);
where prescription is preserved and the precaution list is dumped off; where a pocket-friendly treatment is doubted lot more than an expensive one;
where half of the market is overflowing with medicines that are banned in most part of the world – In such a world –
an Indian Doctor dares to be a doctor (I skipped the frustration at the personal level – the 'PRE' part of becoming a doctor – pre-medical exams, donations as medical college entrance fees, years of hardwork and actual studies etc.; No doubt why most of us are engineers :P);
he / she takes the pain of treating a patient whom they know – must have set back home for atleast 2-3 days, depending upon the ailment intensity, waiting for ailment to get worse; along with of course – the neem hakeem treatment at home; is not going to follow half of the instructions / precautions to be taken care while the treatment goes-on; in short – is gonna make every possible effort of making the treatment not-work.
In such a world - an Indian Doctor becomes a doctor and puts all possible efforts to treat the patient in the best possible way!!
So while we all have experiences - good or bad - one thing we all must do is to respect this life saving profession and these life giving professionals.
PS : I am a patriot and in no way intend to grey-potray the people or the medical culture. This blog is just an opinion and compilation of experiences :P
